It’s now monsoon season here, and we’ve had some spectacular gully-washing thunderstorms.
“Steel Penny” received an honorable mention in Gardner Dozois’ Year’s Best Science Fiction.
“Raising Jenny” continues to get good reviews. Here’s a review in Tangent Online.
I spent a lovely long weekend with a couple of other writers at the Tucson Bed and Breakfast The Congenial Quail, where we wrote and held an informal retreat. I thoroughly recommend this sort of in-town getaway to anyone who needs to reenergize their writing!

It’s spring in the desert! We haven’t had much rain, so the wildflowers aren’t as spectacular as last year, but I can smell blooming plants everywhere, and the chatter of bird song has grown noticeably louder.
My newest short story, “Raising Jenny,” is now out in Constance Ash’s Not of Woman Born, an adult science fiction anthology. The SFSite had some nice things to say about the story.
I also discovered that “Steel Penny” was reviewed in Tangent Online.
I recently signed books at Harelson and Copper Creek Elementary Schools.

Last night I was a guest at Roadrunner Elementary School’s Author Night.
It’s winter here in the Sonoran Desert, and while the weather’s been properly chilly, we haven’t had enough rain yet. Hopefully we’ll get a few more inches before spring!
