At the Fourth Annual Tucson Festival of Books

Spent last weekend at the Tucson Festival of Books, along with 100,000 or so of my fellow booklovers. 🙂 Enjoyed an interview with the Himmel Library Teen Book Club and IT Nation Teens (waves to the members of both); a panel on YA SF/Fantasy with Jeff Mariotte, Aprilynne Pike, Cynthia Leitich Smith, and R.L. Stine, moderated by David Mariotte; and lots and lots of general good conversation.

I was also–for those following current events in Tucson–happy to see students from TUSD’s Ethnic Studies Program out gathering signatures to oust the school board that supported ending that highly successful program, as well as gathering email address for those of us who want more information about future chances to help.

Fellow Arizona writer azang (aka Angela Fox) took this lovely picture at the signing after the YA SF/Fantasy panel:

It’s hard to believe this event has only been a part of Tucson for four years, because it fits our city so well it feels like it’s always been here.
