So the other thing I find myself wanting to say this morning is: I don’t believe the taking of a life is a thing to be celebrated. Accepted, rarely, as grim necessity, maybe. (Though even there, there’s room for debate.) But celebrating, taking joy in it, no.

And forgetting all the lives we’ve taken along the way, all through the past decade–many of them, yes, civilians–in the name of last night’s particular death, even though they in no way helped to achieve it, also no.
