Managed not to get online at all yesterday, because I’d decided I was going to actually celebrate my birthday yesterday (rather than feel like I ought to be doing something to celebrate), so spent the day on three (for me) decadent pleasures: a hike, a massage, and sushi.

On the hike I carried in sparkling juice instead of champagne (park service regulations about both glass and alcohol) and atop an outcrop along Sabino Canyon’s phone line trail, looking out at the rocks and morning sun and tall saguaros, and at the city below, too, toasted in the next year.

Hope you all had a good day, too!

(When I was young, it snowed at my birthday party one year. And yet where I live now, November is solidly hiking weather. Strange to think about, that.)
