Waterlogged cell phones

Thanks, all, for sharing your waterlogged cell phone stories–they were helpful! The consensus seems to be that to have a chance of saving a waterlogged phone, you need to take it apart immediately and rinse out all the parts–especially the battery–and let them dry thoroughly.

Since Ari, the character who owns the phone, doesn’t have the leisure to do this … and since he falls into salt water to boot (and a few people pointed out that that makes things even worse) … I’ve moved the phone from the pocket of his jeans, which get thoroughly soaked through, to an inner pocket of the (presumably more water resistant) leather jacket that merely gets rained on afterward he falls into said salt water. 🙂
