Something that makes me wonder: I hear more and more concern about there not being enough “boy books” out there. But there’s a much more dramatic shortage of “girl movies”–kids’ movies here, especially animated ones, are biased so heavily toward male characters it’s ridiculous. Yet there’s far less outcry about that. Why do we worry so much more about shortchanging boys than about shortchanging girls?
Something I’d just like to say: If being a writer is like being in high school, as a couple blogs have suggested recently, then I wanna cut class and go play by the railroad tracks.
