More out and about

I’m part of a panel discussion of Books Out in the World: The Story after the Story at the Arizona Library Conference in Mesa this Thursday, November 16, from 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m., along with Patricia McCord, Janette Rallison, and Jennifer J. Stewart (jennifer_j_s).

Books Out in the World: The Story after the Story

Does anything change, when readers and stories meet? Join four Arizona authors for a discussion of the story after the story — of what happens once books are published and sent out into the world. Drawing on letters from and discussions with readers, we’ll talk about the meanings stories take on after they leave our hands; about how readers find the stories they need; and about how the book that readers read isn’t always the book that writers think they’re writing. We’ll also discuss the story behind the story: the unexpected ways in which our writing has connected with and changed our own lives.

Sunday, November 19, from 12-3 p.m., I’m joining eight other Arizona authors at Tucson’s east-side Bookman’s to celebrate Children’s Book Week with a group reading and book signing.
