Had our first heavy rain of the season last night, water turning the streets to rivers, shrouding the mountains, turning the sky to charcoal grey.

And there was a rainbow.

Full double bow, crossing the road as we drove across town. But that wasn’t the cool part.

The cool part was that the inner bow was so bright, we could see where it touched the ground.

On both sides: one shining right over the dry cleaning sign to the north, the other shining right through a clump of trees to the south, all the way straight down to pavement and dirt.

I’ve seen lots and lots of rainbows since moving here, but I’ve never seen one touch down before.
