Lest we think this drought thing is new

Huh, according to our local paper, this is only the 14th longest dry stretch on record in Tucson, with the record being set back in 1950. Lest we decide too soon that the lack of rain is new.

Also, as often happens, as of last night that deep, soaking rain only amounted to .02 inches at the airport, where our official rainfall is measured (ETA: .22 inches as of this morning). But hey, at least it was enough to measure, unlike the couple other splatters/traces of rain we’ve had.

For perspective: in a “normal” (read: average) year, we get about 11 inches, though I think there’ve been maybe one or two normal years since I moved here a bit more than a decade back.
