Yesterday was our first (!) winter storm of the season.
That drought managed–just–to resist breaking when my Scout troop worked the local Animal Fair, threatening us with a ten percent chance of rain and then moving on. But a cookie booth was more than the drought could resist; it finally gave in and gave us the sort of steady rain and chill, damp afternoon and evening that makes one want to hole up comfortably indoors. I’ve missed that this year, actually.
Fortunately, the cookie booth was under a sheltered overhang, and ended just before the heaviest rain began.
And this morning, for the first time all year, the mountains were dusted with snow. Well, more than dusted–snow level was down around 3500 feet, as dancinghorse can attest–but it’s already melted a bit since then.
