More thoughts on local giving

Tonight at synagogue I learned that a couple truckloads of food from our local Community Food Bank are on their way to New Orleans.

Which told me immediately, if I want to give somewhere useful–give to them. Because of course, they’ll need to replenish those supplies for the local community, too.

I bet in every community, there’s some local nonprofit stretching its resources a little more than usual to send something into the region. And we could all do worse than focus some of our giving there.

I also found this remarkably heartening. Because Tucson is a long, long ways from New Orleans. Yet still we’re doing something. Probably quite a few things, many of which I don’t know about yet.
