One cool thing

Today, driving out to do some errands in the desert sun–it started raining. Hardly a cloud overhead, sun shining bright yellow through the falling drops and off the wet road.

This sort of thing happens in the desert once in a while: rainfall accompanying sun bright enough to make you reach for your sunglasses. I notice it maybe a couple times a year. It is yet another sort of desert magic.

Afterwards, a third of a double rainbow, arcing through the third of the sky that actually did have some scattered clouds, ending where the sky got too blue and clear to sustain it.
