Some librarians, for example, hate seeing kids use computers for anything other than “hardcore homework,” says Suellentrop, co-author of the new edition of Connecting Young Adults and Libraries (Neal-Schuman Publishers). “You would not say to a 35-year-old, ‘It’s silly what you’re doing on the computer, checking your email,’ but it’s okay to say that to a seventh grader?” she says.
