Finished Esme Raji Codell’s Diary of a Fairy Godmother last night. The tale of a young (only a hundred years old!) witch who struggles with her inner fairy godmother tendencies.
My first thought, when I started reading this, was that the book was kind of slight. And it was, and the attempts to go deeper were perhaps a bit heavy handed. And yet, I liked it. It had charm, it had heart, the more I think about it, the more I like it. A fun read.
Be the one with the wand …
And the book had some interesting things to say about the whole business of granting wishes, something we talked about in lucy_anne‘s journal a while back. Which I say mostly to remind myself to dig up a relevant quote on the matter, when I’m home and have it at hand.
