So, going on about scans and copyright and legal rights has me feeling too curmudgeonly. I feel like, as a counterpoint to that business discussion–real and valid as it is–I need to get up on a table and shout, “I love stories!”
I love reading them. I love writing them. I love thinking about them and living with characters in my head, mine and everyone else’s.
The business part of this needs to be taken seriously. It matters deeply. But it doesn’t change the fact that–as I’ve occasionally had folks assume when I go on about it for a while–that I love stories. That’s the whole point of all of this. I love stories and want their creation and propogation to be what I do in the world.
Stories can change things. Stories can help us through. Stories smooth over the day to day bumps of life.
And stories are fun.
