Random science coolness

Hubble photographs the farthest and earliest galaxies ever seen (by us at least).

I find this statement interesting: “This was a time in cosmic history when the first stars were reheating a cold, dark Universe.” Specifically, the word reheating.

Does this imply, as it seems to, that the authors of the BBC article, at least, accept a closed rather than open model of the universe? Or a has-closed-at-least-once-before model?

And does this reflect anything in the current state of the open versus closed universe debate?
